It’s been in my mind a while to possibly make a road trip on my bike through the southwest. Recently, I was inspired partially by my cousin’s bicycle trip from Washington to SF as well as the first episode of Long Way Down, listening to all my fellow graduates with their travel plans, being kinda frustrated at how short my last NM trip turned out, and it just occurred to me that soon might be the best time to do it. Since I’d be going through the desert and the mountains, it’d have to be either now, before it really gets cold in CO or in the spring, right before it starts getting really hot in AZ/NV. And it’d have to be the spring (March/April?), since I need time to plan this.
I’d have to figure out how long it’d take, how much it’d cost, who I could stay with.... I have family near Tucson, Abq, and Denver. Any of you live near that route who can spare a couch for a night or two? I’m thinking the whole trip could take about 2 weeks, depending on how long I want to stay at each place.
I’d have to figure out how this might fit into any career plans. See if I can take this trip and use it to take advantage of some job opportunity or whatnot. Or at least arrange so that it’s not interfering with any.
I’d have to look into luggage that would fit on my bike, too...
