This is where I'll be next week.

The green markers are overnight stops. Leaving Sunday - 3 days up, 1 day in Seattle, 3 days back. I'd accrued a week of vacation time at work so I thought I'd use it. I have an aunt and uncle in McMinnville and I'll be staying with [info]lalabob11 and [info]jaberwockynmt in Seattle. Yay! I'm excited. I wont be bringing my laptop, so I wont be online hardly at all, though I will be twittering.

We also have family there, our favorite road to ride of all time is just a little north of there.

If you go a little north of McMinville, there's a small town called Carlton. There is a road that heads due west out of it into the mountains. "meadow lake road"

We follow that road west until it becomes Nestucca Access road, then follow that up until you get to "bald mountain access road". That is a picture of Bald Mountain Access road. I think it's this part:

http://maps.google.com/?ie=UTF8&ll=45.277604,-123.45118&spn=0.011626,0.013154&t=h&z=16

This a section of the route we're riding tomorrow. It provides a much more fun way to get out to the coast. However, it's easy to get lost, there's no cell reception and no people living out there to help if things go badly. There's nothing between Carlton and Tillamook except crazy fun roads and people out dirtbiking.

If you have some time when you're in McMinville, there's lot of fun riding around there. The curvy mountain roads in the west and the country lanes NW of Newburg.

Dang, that's quite a ride. Looks like a great way to spend a week.
Say hello to the Northwest for me. Give 'ol Mt. Rainier a shout, too, if it's visible.
Have fun :)

She'll see it really well since she's riding through part of Mt. Rainier National Park on the way back. :)
