Bio
If you want to friend me, go ahead, I don't mind.
I can't promise I'll friend you back, especially if I don't know you,
but I don't mind you reading my LJ. If I did, it would be friends only.

I'm an optimistic gothic hippie.

I'm a skeptic, and an atheist. Cynics piss me off. I dont like people who prefer to be negative. People often tell me I'm too logical. I've travelled a lot but spent most of my life in New Mexico, though I will most likely not be returning except to visit friends. I moved to San Francisco in April '06 (and plan on staying here as long as I can) and graduated from the San Francisco School of Digital Filmmaking in October 2007. As of February '08, I work at Revision 3.

"Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming 'WOW WHAT A RIDE!!!!!'."

"Our freedom is more important than our comfort." ~Penn Jillette

"The fact that life has no meaning is a reason to live. Moreover, the only one."
~E.M. Cioran

"To announce that there must be no criticism of the president, or that we are to stand by the president right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public."
~Theodore Roosevelt

"We must not confuse dissent with disloyalty. When the loyal opposition dies, I think the soul of America dies with it."
~Edward R Murrow

"We cannot defend freedom abroad by deserting it at home."
~Edward R Murrow

"Music creates order out of chaos - for rhythm imposes unanimity upon the divergent, melody imposes continuity upon the disjointed, and harmony imposes compatibility upon the incongruous."
~Yehudi Menuhin

"A man's ethical behavior should be based effectually on sympathy, education, and social ties; no religious basis is necessary. Man would indeed be in a poor way if he had to be restrained by fear of punishment and hope of reward after death."
~Albert Einstein

"The actual experience of the smoked herb has been clouded by a fog of dirty language perpetrated by a crowd of fakers who have not had the experience and yet insist on downgrading it."
~Allen Ginsberg

"Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger."
~Hermann Goering, Nazi leader

"I'm not the type of person who will disrupt things just so I can shit comfortably."
~Dante

"Religion has actually convinced people that there is an invisible man living in the sky, and he has a special list of ten things he does not want you to do. And if you do any of these things he will send you to a place full of fire, and smoke, and burn and torture forever and ever 'till the end of time.... but he loves you. And he needs money."
~George Carlin

Fear less, hope more;
Whine less, breathe more;
Talk less, say more;
Hate less, love more;
And all good things are yours.

-Swedish Proverb

Go placidly amid the noise and the haste,
and remember what peace there may be in silence.

As far as possible, without surrender,
be on good terms with all persons.
Speak your truth quietly and clearly;
and listen to others,
even to the dull and the ignorant;
they too have their story.
Avoid loud and aggressive persons;
they are vexatious to the spirit.

If you compare yourself with others,
you may become vain or bitter,
for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself.
Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans.
Keep interested in your own career, however humble;
it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time.

Exercise caution in your business affairs,
for the world is full of trickery.
But let this not blind you to what virtue there is;
many persons strive for high ideals,
and everywhere life is full of heroism.
Be yourself. Especially do not feign affection.
Neither be cynical about love,
for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment,
it is as perennial as the grass.

Take kindly the counsel of the years,
gracefully surrendering the things of youth.
Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune.
But do not distress yourself with dark imaginings.
Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness.

Beyond a wholesome discipline,
be gentle with yourself.
You are a child of the universe
no less than the trees and the stars;
you have a right to be here.
And whether or not it is clear to you,
no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.

Therefore be at peace with God,
whatever you conceive Him to be.
And whatever your labors and aspirations,
in the noisy confusion of life,
keep peace in your soul.

With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams,
it is still a beautiful world.
Be cheerful. Strive to be happy.

~Desiderata

You are not special. You are not a beautiful or unique snowflake. You're the same decaying organic matter as everything else.
