I had no trouble finding the gate, but we got there early, so I drove by my old house to show Lauren. When we got to the fairgrounds, we got preferred parking and split the cost ($4 total). I was SO glad we did that instead of the regular parking. The doors were scheduled to open at 10 and we got there at about 9:45. We stood in line for about an hour, meaning we missed the first band that was scheduled to play at 10:30 (crash kills four). I didn't care, except I was thirsty and couldn't drink the water I'd brought because it had to be sealed when entering (so they could take off the cap and make us carry a full capless bottle of water). I ended up not bringing my camera, but wishing I had. The security was CRAP!!! The lady just patted my pockets once and let me in. I could've had anything in there. I could've EASILY brought my camera.
We wandered until Systemic started setting up, at about 11:45. I SAW THE GUY WITH THE SHOES!!!! I saw Teddy (you and you should remember him) and I said hi. We each took one. Lauren and I had seen a guy walking around that had his whole torso painted in silver paint(?) , and grey and black camouflage pants and boots. It looked really cool. His cat-eye contacts just made it all that much better. We didnt realize until about 10 minutes before they went on, that it was the singer. We watched Systemic play from 12:10 - 12:40. I had finished my water bottle by that point, and was forced to buy a lemonade for $3 and one slice of pizza for $3...$6 total. damn.
we walked around and at about 1:30 decided to go watch static-x play, they were pretty good. The crowd was a bit rowdy, though, I was glad we didnt go too far in. I heard someone lost their shoe. We never saw kira or caleb, but it was pretty crowded, so I guess that's to be expected. The rest of the day wasn't too eventful. I bought some incense from one of the booths, and we got some edge stickers and temporary tattoos before we left.Sevendust kicked ass, though. :-)
We decided to leave before POD, though, neither lauren nor i like them too much. on our way home, we stopped by insomnia, and jay (my bro) said he'd be happy to let me stay at his house the night of the goldfinger show. So, YAY! I can now go! :-D He gave me directions (i've never been to his house) just in case I dont talk to him again before that. His phone and email are down (dont ask), therefore leaving him uncontactable besides in person.
