That movie I posted about last night? I've decided to make Jarmusch the topic of my film essay (practically the only real assignment in that class). We were given several topics we could write about, and the one I'm choosing is: "Pick a favorite director and consider their body of work. What do they do that other filmmakers don't? What themes travel from film to film? Successful responses will require broad viewing and equally broad reading." I'm excited. I feel like I can really write about this. His films are all so different, but all so very similar, in ways I haven't really tried to put into words before. This the first school assignment in my life that I'm actually looking forward to doing. This is what I came to a university for.
