It's not over till you're underground

So I've been thinking about where I want to work this summer in San Francisco and how to go about getting said job.

On one hand, I'd be happy with just getting your average minimum wage job, as a file clerk/secretary/whatever (though it's still my life-long goal to never work in food). I've emailed my boss from last summer and he said they could probably use me again. So that'd be fun.

However, as tempting as it is to just do something meaningless, just to make some money for now, whatever, I don't want to fall into that pattern. I don't want the rest of my life to be filled with jobs "just to make some money for now". I know, I know, I'm young, this summer won't determine the rest of my life, but still, why not start now at getting jobs that I can use to actually get where I want to go? Especially since I'm lucky enough to not be financially independent yet and won't be relying on my income. I checked local tv stations job offers last year, and most of what I liked were internships that required you to be in a film program, which I wont be until next year. Other than that, I'm not sure where I could look to find a job that a) I can do now and b) is in the field I want (media).

I'll probably end up working at the Archive again and waiting until next year to figure anything more out.

Now to find a place to stay (if you are or know anyone who is looking for a temporary summer roommate in SF, let me know)....
