Libya Sentences 6 to Die in H.I.V. Case
- In a nutshell, in Libya in 1998, Bulgarian nurses deliberately infected 400 children with AIDS, 50+ of whom have since died. Health authorities noticed, and the nurses were tortured into confessing that they were following orders. Qaddafi thinks the CIA (as well as Israel’s intelligence agency) is involved, but I’m not sure why. The courts cant decide whether to punish the nurses with death or reimburse the victims’ families. Am I missing something?
