The beauty of religious mania is that it has the power to explain everything. Once God (or Satan) is accepted as the first cause of everything which happens in the mortal world, nothing is left to chance...logic can be happily tossed out the window.
I actually recently caught myself thinking sort of the opposite.
If I were theistic, I'd be plagued with "WHY would anyone do this on PURPOSE?" about every little thing. Things like male nipples, appendices, volcanoes and tsunamis. But instead I just remind myself it's just nature, which has no conscious intent and I feel all better. I know there's a rational explanation for everything, even if I dont know it.
Just like theists are impressed by sunsets because of the AWEsome power of gawd, but I'm impressed by sunsets because... they just... happen.
It also ties into the title of my lj and this xkcd strip, which I've probably posted before but you guys can always use a reminder:
Thoughts of death and dying arent morbid to me - they're life-affirming because they remind me to live (see: icon)
